Nehemiah Vancity & More Than Gold Creative & Performing Arts have joined forces to bring the Down Town East Side Community and YOU ART LOVERS an Exciting Event!!
Next Saturday Feb 13 2010 the second day of the 2010 Olympic Games……..
Grace Mansion 596 East Hastings Street from 11am till 6pm
I will be doing Live painting/graffiti (Art by Steph Forster here – http://nehemiahvancity.com/?page_id=24 ) that is community based ,by that I mean I plan to set up a few large canvasses 5 feet x five feet and have a station set up for ANYONE who walks up to join me in creating a community masterpiece over the course of the day, I will be doing this on the street outside of the venue to draw traffic into the gallery space to scope out the AMAZING artists from the DTES ( such as SERVANTS for ASIA’s arts group based in the DTES) among other artists from the DTES Community displaying their work!
The inside of the Grace Mansion is being converted into a temporary gallery for the day where artists can hang out and chat with people about their art and spend time building relationships with those in the community!
The Art Consists of Photography, Poetry Readings, Bead Work, Wood Work & Paintings as well as MUSICAL PERFORMANCES by artists through More Than Gold Creative & Performing Arts http://karinarose.com/capa/index1.php who will be performing musical acts throughout the day…..We are stoked to have Christian Hip Hop Artist MDK who is on tour with Fresh I.E. !!!
MTG CaPA will assist The Nehemiah Foundation Vancity http://nehemiahvancity.com to provide leadership to this event as More Than Gold CaPA is The Nehemiah Foundations Sponsor & Partner for this outreach in addition More than Gold will also be providing Hospitality by handing out complimentary hot chocolate throughout the day as well as providing volunteers!
EVERY ONE IS WELCOME!!!!! It is going to be an amazing day in the Down Town East Side! I look forward to seeing you on the OLYMPIC ROUTE !
