Liz’s Squirrel Monkey

This monkey is painted for my friend Liz- a squirrel monkey. I used a lot of yellow and purple, a little bit of orange, and finally mixed in some pink-red, pthalo blue, and aquamarine. The important thing to notice is that I used not a spot of “brown.”

Pen & Ink: Pine Deckle

Even a shadow doesn’t make as lovely a mark as a twig dipped in India Ink.

Pen & Ink: Night Pine

Ink and a swash of white paper indictive of moonlight and night-saturated pines.

Pen & Ink: Deckle

The lovely deckle edges, met by the swipe of a brush whose marks are defined by the wax resist; and a beautiful black bloom.

Pen & Ink: Chalkboard

India Ink, Gesso, and Wax Resist, wielded by a trio of markmaking instruments: a Bamboo pen, an evergreen twig, and a paintbrush
