New York based painter Amy Cutler has recently sprung to fame for her cartoon-like creatures that resemble toys. Inspired by media, fairy tales, folklore, and her personal life, she creates fabulous images:
In Tiger Mending an array of women sew together these distorted carnivores, Giraffe Maypole is children dancing, strangling, and Dinner Party sees chair-bedecked Victorian ladies, disrupting the table.
She says the meaning of her work may not be immediately clear, even to her, for years after completion.

Bizarre and otherworldly and awesome. They remind me of fairy tales, for sure.
